ONLINE RETREAT
Exploring Your Body Story
May 14-16 >>>
A three-day online weekend retreat with daily workbooks, journaling prompts,
recommended reading, and videos to support your retreat experience.
We all have a story.
Your body has its own story and it deserves to be told and heard.
By you and for you.
Body stories are more commonly told about us, or are framed for us, by dominant culture, family members, medical systems, media and more.
What is a Body Story?
It’s a lot like it sounds; it’s the story of your body as you experience it. It is the story about what it has meant to live in your body.
Our bodies have been with us through everything we’ve experienced in our lives. Every breath we’ve taken…every beat of our heart. It has survived our scrutiny, our shame. It has been impacted by the oppressive ideas that have been fed to us. It has changed with our relationships, our loves, our fears and our struggle. It has survived living in a culture that encourages many to act violently upon their bodies in order to try to fit into a narrowly defined standard of acceptance. It has underscored your very perception of what it means to be you…and to be alive.
And the real story is often invisibilized, even to us, by the ideas that are upheld by dominant culture. Why? Our truth is powerful enough to change us and our world.
Join us for a three-day online retreat experience. Create the time and space to be with yourself, explore and learn at your own pace and in community.
This retreat is an invitation to dig in deeper, to delve beyond the action plan for your body and into the roots of your coping, and hear stories that expand your understanding of your own narrative. Here we will work towards building trust where there has been mostly blame and a well of deficiency.
Please note we will not be recording the live sessions from 1 to 3 p.m. PST every day, so we encourage you to mark your calendars and plan to attend to learn with us in community. Some retreat material will be pre-recorded and provided to support your experience outside of our time together.

There is power in being witnessed and there is power in hearing your own truth reflected in someone else’s story. Deepening your understanding of your body story creates an opportunity for more healing and is a core element of reclaiming body trust.
Our stories have the power to connect us with shared collective traumas.
Exploring, naming and reclaiming our body stories helps us externalize and locate the problem outside of our bodies.
Our stories remind us how our coping has been wise and helps us survive. And how your body, in all that it is and represents, is your living, breathing manifested story.
None of us are disposable. All of our stories have value.
We need to claim our stories.
We need to hear untold stories.
